ZAGREB, Nov 16 (Hina) - The number of unemployed persons registered in Croatia at the end of October was 333,435, which is 2.1 percent more than at the end of September, and 13.2 percent more than in October 1998, the Croatian
Employment Bureau reported on Tuesday. The number of unemployed women is on the rise, and was 52.6 percent in October 1998, and 53.1 percent this October. An increase of 19.9 percent has been recorded in the number of the unemployed aged over 50. Qualified unemployed persons at the end of October were 221,306, which is 15.6 percent more than last October, while the unqualified were 112,129, i.e. 8.7 percent more than in October 1998. The highest increase in the unemployment rate in relation to October 1998 has been registered in Vukovar-Srijem County in eastern Croatia, at 25.9 percent.(hina) ha jn
