AED TO POSSIBLY PROVIDE SUPPORT TO NON-GOVERNMENT ORGANISATIONS

ZAGREB, Dec 2 (Hina) - Non-government, non-profit organisations can answer to a bid published by the Academy for Educational Development (AED) for financial support in the amount of US$30,000 to 100,000. The deadline for registration is January 12, 2000. The AED, an American non-government organisation, is currently carrying out a three-year programme of development of non-profit organisations in Croatia. The programme is financed by the US Agency for International Development (USAID). The AED has so far delegated US$356,000 for seven projects in environment protection, democratisation of the society, social status of women, development of small-scale businesses and social welfare. Funds are not allocated for programmes connected with elections or the promotion of political parties. Projects must correlate with the goals of the programme: to increase the influence of non-government organisations on the processes of adoption and implementing programmes of social development, promotion of citizens' responsibility for solving social problems and carrying out activities with other sectors and non-government organisations.
