PAVLETIC RECEIVES REPRESENTATIVES OF DIPLOMATIC CORPS

ZAGREB, Dec 10 (Hina) - President of the Croatian National Parliament and stand-in president of the Republic, Vlatko Pavletic, on Friday received members of the diplomatic corps based in Zagreb, headed by Apostolic Nuncio, Giulio Einaudi. Pavletic said after the meeting he had wished to convince representatives of the diplomatic corps that the upcoming parliamentary elections in Croatia would be held in line with Croatian laws and democratic tradition. "I called the meeting because I wished to say that, in the period when all eyes are focused on Croatia, there was no reason to be worry that everything would not function on all levels, normally, and that the elections would not be held in a peaceful atmosphere and in line with the Constitutional Law and the Electoral Law and in accordance with expectations and wishes being forwarded to us from all sides from those who wish to avoid any criticism regarding the democracy and fairness of the elections," Pavletic said. He added that the started work on projects financed by foreign investors show that "confidence in the stability and safety of investments into Croatia remains unblemished". (hina) lml
