PAVLETIC AND HEADS OF PARTIES, PARTY BENCHES MEET

ZAGREB, Nov 22 (Hina) - Croatian Parliament President Vlatko Pavletic and heads of parties and party benches on Monday noon opened a meeting at the Croatian National Sabor building. The result of today's talks could be the final agreement on introducing into the legal system the institute of temporary disability of the President of the Republic to perform his duties. A proposal on regulating the institute of temporary disability was submitted to opposition parties on Saturday by the head of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) parliamentary bench, Vladimir Seks. The HDZ proposal favours neither the adoption of a law nor changes to the Constitution, Seks told reporters on Saturday, adding it was the content, not the form that was important. The proposal was discussed by other parties during the weekend. Prior to the meeting with Pavletic, a meeting between "Opposition Six" parties took place. According to some sources, the Opposition Six will today present their own proposal on the institute of temporary disability. Pavletic and the heads of parties and party benches are meeting behind closed doors and details will be known after the session. (hina) rml
