CROATIAN LOWER HOUSE WILL NOT BE DISSOLVED FRIDAY AS ANNOUNCED

ZAGREB, Nov 12 (Hina) - The Croatian Parliament House of representatives will not be dissolved on Friday, as had been previously announced, due to the disintegration of President Franjo Tudjman's health. "On behalf of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and the party bench, I have withdrawn the request that the House of Representatives be dissolved today, leaving open the option that it be dissolved in line with the Constitution, or a session be convened if necessary. The reason is the worsening of the health condition of the President of the Republic, which requires all bodies of state authority, especially the National Parliament, to remain complete," HDZ parliamentary bench president Vladimir Seks said at the beginning of Friday's session of the Lower House. Seks said presidents of other parties and party benches in the Parliament. Parliament president Vlatko Pavletic said a meeting he held

Seks said presidents of other parties and party benches in the Parliament. Parliament president Vlatko Pavletic said a meeting he held with representatives of parliamentary party benches focused on the new situation, recalling that during a meeting ten days ago a possibility had been suggested that the Parliament should end its work Friday, but should not be dissolved until its constitutionally set mandate. In this sense a consensus was reached, we all agreed that in this pre-election period we should behave with dignity and in compliance to the situation, he said. This should lead to peaceful, safe and well-supervised elections, after which their results should not be questioned, Pavletic said. The Lower House continued its session by voting on all discussed issues. (hina) lml jn
