ZAGREB, Nov 12 (Hina) - According to the Croatian National Bank (HNB) October bulletin, Croatia's external debt at the end of July 1999 amounted to US$9.1 billion. According to data on the structure of the debt, medium- and long-term
loans account for more than eight billion (or 88%) of the foreign debt, whereas short-term loans account for just above one billion dollars. The state's share in the external debt accounts for 42.6 per cent of the debt, whereas other sectors (companies, non-banking sector) account for 36.1. Banks account for 18.9 per cent and the central bank for 2.3 per cent of the external debt. As regards the payment of medium- and long-term loans, a total of US$1.2 billion will be paid in 2000, another 1.3 billion will be paid in 2001 and in 2002 nearly 1.2 billion.
