OTTAWA, Oct 26 (Hina) - Croatian immigrants in the Canadian province of Quebec as well as Croatian returnees from Quebec will be able to solve, in future in a simpler manner, a series of issues of recognition and payment of their
pensions and other bonuses which social insurance entails. On behalf of the Croatian Government, Ambassador Andrija Jakovcevic and Quebec authorities signed an agreement on social insurance. This province has an independent status in the social insurance sector in relation to the federal one. On May 1 this year, the Croatian-Canadian agreement on social insurance came into effect, which the two countries had previously signed. On behalf of Quebec Government, Immigration Minister Robert Perreault signed the contract and on that occasion he stressed that Croatia was the first post-Communist country to sign such agreement with this Canadian province.
