EMPLOYERS SEEK TALKS WITH HEALTH MINISTER ON DEBTS TO PHARMACIES

ZAGREB, Oct 18 (Hina) - The manager of the Croatian Association of Employers (HUP), Zeljko Ivancevic, on Monday requested an urgent meeting with Health Minister Zeljko Rainer to find a solution to the high debts the Croatian Health Insurance Bureau (HZZO) owes pharmacies. The average debt owed to privately-owned pharmacies exceeds US$85,700, Ivancevic says in an open letter to Rainer. Ivancevic points out the debt-settling to pharmacies and salary-paying to pharmacy employees is late for months. He notes he has not noticed difficulties in paying salaries to those holding the most responsible positions, either in the health sector or state institutions. Ivancevic links this state of affairs with the "hard-line" refusal of the legal obligation to include representatives of employers and trade unions in the HZZO Management Board.(hina) ha jn
