audience with Pope John Paul II on Thursday. The Pope welcomed

(Welcome)!" #L#
After that they held half-hour-long talks in private. Then other
members of Croatia's delegation - the Sabor's Upper House Vice
President Ivan Aralica, Foreign Minister Mate Granic, Culture
Minister Bozo Biskupic and Tudjman's foreign affairs advisors,
Ivic Pasalic and Neven Madey - joined them in talks.
On this occasion the Pontiff presented Tudjman with a set of papal
medals, while each member of the delegation received one medal.
The Croatian President gave the Holy Father a valuable reprint of
the Senj Glagolitic Breviary dating back to the 15th century. This
breviary also bears testimony to long-standing ties between
Croatia and the Holy See, Tudjman said.
Upon receiving the gift, the Pope said: "God bless You, Your Family
and Croatia!"
Tudjman answered that John Paul II had done so much good since he
became the Pontiff. "You have become one of the most prominent
people nowadays," Tudjman added.
While the Pope was seeing the Croatian President and the delegation
off at the door of his private library, Tudjman greeted him saying
"See You in Croatia!".
Subsequently Croatian President began talks with the Holy See State
Secretary, Cardinal Angelo Sodano.
