WASHINGTON, Oct 16 (Hina) - President of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH) Davor Juric, on Friday visited the State Department and held talks with several United States officials on the role of trade unions
in the establishment of peace and democracy in the region, the SSSH international relations office reported Saturday. Juric also held talks with coordinator for aid for the southeastern European region Larry Napper, Secretary of State assistant's deputy Jim Swigert, and special advisor of the United States President for Kosovo and the implementation of the Dayton Agreement Jim Dobbis. Independent Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH) Davor Juric, on Friday
visited the State Department and held talks with several United
States officials on the role of trade unions in the establishment of
peace and democracy in the region, the SSSH international relations
office reported Saturday.
Juric also held talks with coordinator for aid for the southeastern
European region Larry Napper, Secretary of State assistant's
deputy Jim Swigert, and special advisor of the United States
President for Kosovo and the implementation of the Dayton Agreement
Jim Dobbis.
During the talks it was particularly pointed to the significance of
the democratic trade unions for the promotion of peace and the
development of democracy in the former Yugoslav countries. Juric
pointed to the importance of Croatia's joining the World Trade
Organisation (WTO) and negotiations on an European agreement on
cooperation.
During his visit to the United States, Juric attended the 23rd
congress of the American federation of labour.
