ZAGREB, Sept 29 (Hina) - President of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Ivica Racan and president of the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) Drazen Budisa Wednesday held talks with Canadian premier Jean Chretien during their working
visit to this country. During talks on the upcoming elections, Chretien wished electoral victory to democratic parties, the two parties' leaders' offices said in a statement. Budisa and Racan stressed that Canadian assistance to mine-clearing in Croatia was insufficient, and asked Chretien for Canada to establish a consular service at the Canadian Embassy in Zagreb. During talks with Finance Minister Paul Martin, Racan and Budisa presented the current economic and political situation in Croatia and requested Canada's assistance in overcoming economic and financial difficulties.
