Representatives on Friday elected eight new judges of the Constitutional Court. The newly-elected judges are Smiljko Sokol, Marijan Hranjski, Ivan Mrkonjic, Vice Vukojevic, Petar Klaric, Emilija Rajic, Jasna Omejec, and Ivan Matija. The eight new Constitutional Court judges, who were voted on in a package, received support from 71 MPs whereas five MPs abstained. Most of the Opposition Six representatives walked out of the hall before the vote, claiming the procedure envisaged for the election of judges was not respected. The Opposition Six includes the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS), Croatian People's Party (HNS), Liberal Party (LS), Istrian Democratic Assembly (IDS), and the Croatian Peasants' Party (HSS).
