OPPOSITION SIX AGAINST PROCEDURE OF ELECTION OF CONSTITUTIONAL COURT JUDGES

ZAGREB, Oct 21 (Hina) - Deputies of the Opposition Six in the Croatian National Parliament's House of Representatives will not take part in a procedure of the election of proposed candidates for judges of the Constitutional Court. Ivan Jakovcic, the co-ordinator of these six opposition parties, on Thursday handed over a public statement to reporters in the Sabor, which reads that the Opposition Six is against the procedure of proposing candidates for the new composition of the Constitutional Court, as these opposition parties hold that the established procedure of candidacy has not been respected in this case. According to the statement, none of the six opposition parties (constituting Opposition Six) has officially been notified of the instigating of the procedure and time limits for candidacy of possible judges in the Constitutional Court. We completely refuse insinuations and an impression which is intended to be made in public that inter-party agreement has been achieved on names of the candidates for those posts.
