the world, including the centre of the eastern Croatian town of Vukovar. Colin Amery, director of the British branch of World Monuments Fund, told reporters the foundation was trying to preserve architectural, artistic, and natural heritage. Jadranka Njers Beresford-Pierse, the president of the British
charitable organisation, International Trust for Croatian
Monuments, which cooperates with World Monuments Fund, spoke to
reporters about the importance of reconstructing baroque buildings
in Vukovar. She supported her claims with examples from Zadar and
Dubrovnik, where damaged historical buildings have been
successfully repaired. Last year, the Fund raised 60,000 British
pounds for projects aimed at reconstructing historical monuments
in Croatia.
