of Motovun ended on Saturday night by the projection of the Dutch
documentary entitled "Lagrimas Negras" and a concert played by the
band "Gustafi".#L#
The festival, which commenced on August 10, featured 30 foreign and
Croatian documentaries and motion pictures.
This event was not a competition, but its purpose was to give a
review of some films awarded at international festivals.
The central programme of the Motovun festival presented Slovenian
film "Carmen", British "All the Little Animals", the Yugoslav-
French "A Tinderbox", German "Run Lola Run", Iranian "Children of
Heaven", Bosnian-French "A Perfect Circle" and the U.S
"Happiness".
The only award of the Motovun festival was given to the Hungarian
documentary "Ottavio" by Diana Groo and Attila Kekesi. This award
is for documentary films shot at the Imaginary Academy at Groznjan,
established in that Croatian town in 1997 in order to help young
film-makers to upgrade their skills. Lecturers have been eminent
personalities from the movie business, while students have come
from Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Poland,
Albania, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
During the festival exhibitions of works by artists, Edo Murtic and
Hari Ivancic, were staged and a few book on film were promoted.
Guests at the festival were British producer Jeremy Thomas, Czech
director Juraj Jakubisko, actors Rade Serbedzija, Bogdan Diklic
and Dusan Makavejev and the son of famous Russian director, Andrey
Tarkovski.
