ZAGREB, July 8 (Hina) - The Croatian Interior Ministry has strong
reservations toward the anonymous phone call made to a Zagreb
daily, in which the caller claimed responsibility for the murder of
Ibrahim Dedic, Interior Minister Ivan Penic told reporters on
Thursday.
Dedic, owner of Promdei bank, was killed this last Saturday in front
of the door to the building he lived in in Zagreb.
"The Interior Ministry has strong reservations, although it (the
phone call) can mean something and be of help", Penic told reporters
following the end of the open part of today's Government session.
In the phone conversation with "Jutarnji list" daily, the anonymous
caller said the call was being made on behalf of the organisation
"Mudzahedin Zenica", adding it had killed Dedic "because he has
robbed the people of Bosnia-Herzegovina".
"It is known that Promdei bank owns large funds to the National Bank
of Bosnia-Herzegovina", Penic said, reiterating the Ministry had
reservations toward the call.
Penic also commented on a statement by the head of the Muslim
religious community in Croatia and Slovenia, Sefko Omerbasic, made
during yesterday's funeral ceremony at Zagreb's Mirogoj cemetery,
when Omerbasic said, according to "Jutarnji list", that police had
failed to protect Dedic.
The Ministry paid more attention to Dedic and his safety than to any
other average citizen of Croatia, but he did not want the
cooperation offered by the Ministry, said Penic.
Penic said he had appointed a team of prominent experts, called
"Jarun", to work on Dedic's murder.
