ZAGREB, July 5 (Hina) - The committee against political violence on
Monday severely condemned the killing of a banker, Ibrahim Dedic,
describing it as evidence that organised crime is active.
The recently established committee believed that police had not
taken seriously Dedic's many warnings and requests to be
protected.
Perpetrators of a few previous attacks against Dedic have not been
found out, and the police responded utterly inadequately after the
1998 January assassination attempt against this man, the committee
said in a statement.
All this leads one to think that crimes is being committed
increasingly frequently in the presence of authority, the
committee added.
While police is bugging journalists and politicians, their failure
to search for perpetrators of crimes results in increasing violence
whereas the street lay down the law, the committee said.
Such situation begs the questions for whom taxpayers give their
money in the state budget and whom proportionally most numerous
police in Europe are protecting, the committee stressed.
