SISAK, July 1 (Hina) - Two Croatian border policemen were attacked between 11.50 pm Tuesday (June 29) and 00.15 am Wednesday (June 30) at Kobiljak near Topusko (60 kilometres south of Zagreb), at the border between Croatia and
Bosnia-Herzegovina. Unknown perpetrators attacked the two policemen on regular patrol, Sisak-Moslavina County police reported on Thursday. A group of attackers arrived from Bosnian territory and ambushed the two policemen behind an abandoned house. They disarmed them at gun-point, and left them tied in the house. The attackers took away the policemen's two pistols and two guns with ammunition, and after that they went into an unknown direction. In order to find out the perpetrators and prevent incidents in the
future, Croatian police is cooperating with their counterparts in
Una-Sana Canton in the Bosnian Federation.
This assault on the two police officers has been the gravest
incident in this Croatian border area since the 1995 liberating
operation "Storm" and the set-up of the Croatian border police in
that part.
