ZAGREB, June 8 (Hina) - National minorities should have the right to
elect 13 percent of representatives to the Croatian National Sabor,
representatives of the Serbian People's Party (SNS) told a press
conference on Tuesday.
Of 120 to 130 representatives to the Croatian National Sabor's
House of Representatives, minorities should be able to have 15 to 17
representatives.
According to the SNS President, Milan Djukic, the Serb minority
should have eight or nine representatives at the Sabor.
Djukic is opposed to a draft electoral law, which was, after talks
with six parties of the Croatian Opposition, made by the ruling
Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ).
Djukic expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that he was not
invited to talks held between Vladimir Seks of the HDZ and
representatives of Opposition parliamentary parties outside of the
'Opposition Six' and representatives of minorities. If the Sabor
endorses the draft bill, according to which Serbs would have only
one representatives at the Croatian National Sabor, the SNS and
other Serb organisations would not participate in the upcoming
elections, Djukic said.
The Italian and the Jewish communities, even though smaller, they
also have one representative in the parliament, Djukic concluded.
