RSR HPT UNION POSTPONES TOMORROW'S STRIKE

ZAGREB, June 8 (Hina) - A trade union of workers in the Croatian Post and Telecommunications called "RSR HPT" postponed a general strike in the Croatian Post (HP) and the Croatian Telecommunications (HT), announced for Wednesday, June 9, and accepted the recommendation of the co-ordination of associations of claimants to shares of public companies to join other trade unions in the HP and the HT in the action which will be staged on June 11, the RSR HPT said on Tuesday. The reason for the strike of RSR HPT members is the unacceptable final bill, proposed by the Government, on the HT privatisation, and another trade union called "HSPT" cited the same reason for the June 11 general strike. The RSR HPT union decided to postpone tomorrow's strike in order to avoid inter-union struggles as well,. Both trade unions insist that the current and former employees in the HT and the HP be entitled to buy HT shares up to 20,000 German marks under privileged conditions, and that they be also enabled to participate in the choice of a strategic investor in the HT as well as that the State remain a majority owner of this company.
