TIRANA, May 15 (Hina) - The Transitional Government of Kosovo on Friday called on international factors to recognise the independence of Kosovo and support its interim government. The Government issued a statement in Tirana saying
that it is necessary that the international community take urgent measures to solve the humanitarian crisis in that part of the Balkans. The Government warned that the political, security and humanitarian situation in Kosovo had extremely deteriorated and could soon turn into humanitarian disaster. The remaining population in the area is starving, and cannot get basic medical aid. The Government, at whose helm is Premier Hashim Thaqi, also asked the international community to lift an arms embargo on the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). It firmly supported NATO operations and insisted on five unchanged basic demands set by NATO to Serbia in order that the conflict may end

The Government, at whose helm is Premier Hashim Thaqi, also asked

A spokesman for the Government, Jakup Krasniqi, greeted Friday's
decision of Albania's Parliament to recognise the Kosovo
Transitional Government led by Thaqi and called on governments of
other countries to do so.
