PARIS PARIS, May 8 (Hina) - A monograph on a Croatian great man-of-letters and Renaissance poet, Marko Marulic, was presented in Paris on Friday. The promotion of the book entitled by "Marko-Marulic-Marul" by Professor Mirko Tomasovic
was organised by the society of the alumni of Croatian Universities (AMCA). At the gathering, held in a hall of Paris Catholic University, Srecko Lipovcan, the editor-in-chief of Erasmus, a house that published Tomasovic's monograph, also presented a collection of essays on Marko Marulic entitled "Etudes Maruliennes", written by Charles Bene, a professor at Grenoble University, and printed in the French language in Zagreb. Speaking about Marko Marulic (1450-1524), this French professor
said he had been a humanist of the entire Europe. He praised Marulic
for the distinction of having written not only in Latin, the elite
language of the time, but also in the vernacular and for his
Croatian people.
Bene informed the gathered that he had began translating Marulic's
"Judita" into the French language.
Friday's event was held by AMCA with help of Croatia's Culture
Ministry. Present at the promotion were representatives of the
Croatian embassy in Paris.
