Professor Bene accepted the invitation to attend the presentation of Tomasovic's work. Addressing the gathering, Bene described the monograph as an excellent scholarly and artistic work. Speaking about Marko Marulic (1450-1524), this French professor said he had been a humanist of the entire Europe. He praised Marulic for the distinction of having written not only in Latin, the elite language of the time, but also in the vernacular and for his Croatian people. Bene informed the gathered that he had began translating Marulic's "Judita" into the French language. Friday's event was held by AMCA with help of Croatia's Culture Ministry. Present at the promotion were representatives of the Croatian embassy in Paris. (hina) ms
