LOVAS, May 7 (Hina) - The Vukovar-based United Nations Development Programme/UN Office for Project Services (UNDP/UNOPS) on Friday donated US$385,000 for spring sowing in the eastern Croatian municipalities of Lovas and Tovarnik, the
Croatian Danube River region. The UNDP/UNOPS programme helps 334 returnee families in the Lovas municipality and 372 in the municipality of Tovarnik. The families planted corn, soy, sunflowers and clover on 1,200 hectares of farming land. Another 270 tonnes of mineral fertiliser arrived in Lovas on Friday, intended for the implementation of the UN programme of help to farmers in Lovas and Tovarnik. The programme, however, does not include the pest control agent supply. Pest control agents are expensive and households cannot afford them, which could cause damage to the crop, the manager of the Lovas cooperative firm, Adam Rendulic, said. Rendulic
