ZAGREB/MUNICH, April 19 (Hina) - Germany as the presiding country
of the European Union, should break through Croatia's blockade in
the EU. It is unacceptable that Croatia does not even have a trade
and cooperation agreement with the European union, European
Parliament representative, Bernd Posselt, said in Munich on
Monday.
Posselt, of the Christian-Social Union (CSU), called on Chancellor
Gerhard Schroeder to, as the chairman of the EU, break through the
unjustified and dangerous blockade of the European Union towards
Croatia, Posselt's public relations office said in a statement
Monday.
According to him, Croatia is an important factor of stabilisation
in the region, and due to the Kosovo crisis, its tourism is
suffering grave consequences as no other country-neighbour of
Yugoslavia.
Posselt said it was unbearable that the EU has not even a trade
agreement with Croatia, let alone an associate membership,
stressing this should be done as soon as possible.
