ZAGREB, April 14 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Zlatko Matesa on Wednesday stated that he had suggested Zvonimir Separovic for the office of new Justice Minister and Ivan Herak as Tourism Minister. Separovic was born in 1928 in
Blato, on the island of Korcula. He completed his primary and secondary education in Dubrovnik and Split and graduated from the Zagreb Faculty of Law, where he earned his MA degree. He earned his PhD degree in legal sciences at the University of Ljubljana. He completed specialisation at Freiburg's Max Planck Institute for Penal and International Law and the Institute for Security in Warrensburg, United States. He was the dean of the Faculty of Law and the Zagreb University Chancellor. He also held the office of Foreign Minister in Croatia's Government of Democratic Unity and was Croatia's first ambassador at the United Nations. Wednesday stated that he had suggested Zvonimir Separovic for the
office of new Justice Minister and Ivan Herak as Tourism Minister.
Separovic was born in 1928 in Blato, on the island of Korcula.
He completed his primary and secondary education in Dubrovnik and
Split and graduated from the Zagreb Faculty of Law, where he earned
his MA degree. He earned his PhD degree in legal sciences at the
University of Ljubljana. He completed specialisation at Freiburg's
Max Planck Institute for Penal and International Law and the
Institute for Security in Warrensburg, United States.
He was the dean of the Faculty of Law and the Zagreb University
Chancellor. He also held the office of Foreign Minister in
Croatia's Government of Democratic Unity and was Croatia's first
ambassador at the United Nations.
Separovic is a member of a number of international organisations
and is one of the founders of the World Society for Victimology. For
a time he held the post of its president; he is currently a member of
the Executive Committee and a permanent representative at the
United Nations, International Centre in Vienna.
He wrote and edited a number of scientific works.
Ivan Herak was born in Porec in 1957, where he completed his primary
and secondary education. He graduated from the Faculty of Economy
in Ljubljana, and worked in hotel companies in Porec.
Herak became a parliamentary representative in 1992 as the head of a
list of regional parties. In 1995, he was elected to parliament as a
member of the Croatian Social-Liberal Party (HSLS) list.
Herak held for a time the office of Istrian Democratic Assembly
vice-president. After he left the IDS, he joined the HSLS. In early
1999, he left the HSLS and has since been an independent
representative. He currently holds the office of president of the
Sabor's Committee for Tourism.
