DAMAGED BORDER BRIDGE BETWEEN CRO & YUGOSLAVIA REMAINS CLOSED

ILOK, Apr 4 (Hina) - A border bridge across the Danube between Ilok in eastern-most Croatia and Backa Palanka in Yugoslavia, which was damaged in a Saturday night explosion which blasted from the Backa Palanka direction, remains closed for traffic, a local official of the Vukovar-Srijem County PD told Hina on Sunday. Zdravko Starinec also refuted a statement released by the PD last night that the damage to the bridge was on its Yugoslav side. It has been determined today the damage was done on the Croatian side 10m from the bridge borderline. Starinec said the mistake in last night's evaluation was the result of darkness and low visibility. He added traffic across the bridge remains closed, and that people crossing on foot do so at their own risk. Late last evening news agencies around the world quoted Yugoslav news agency Tanjug reporting that on April 3 NATO
