ZAGREB, Mar 12 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament's House of
Representatives on Friday ratified an agreement on special
relations between Croatia and one of Bosnia's two entities, the
Croat-Muslim Federation.
Seventy-four representatives voted in favour of a law ratifying the
agreement, while one representative was against, and one abstained
from voting.
The special relations agreement was signed last November.
Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic recently told parliament the
agreement fortifies the sovereignty and constitutionality of the
Croat people in the Bosnian Federation, while simultaneously
fortifying Bosnia-Herzegovina's territorial integrity.
Granic then said it would no longer be possible to accuse Croatia of
interfering with issues of both the Federation and Bosnia-
Herzegovina once the agreement and the accompanying annexes were
ratified. He emphasised Croatia was taking great care to avoid the
agreement or any of its annexes tying it with the Federal Republic
of Yugoslavia.
To date, 12 annexes to the special relations agreement have been
submitted to the Bosnian Federation, and an additional dozen will
be submitted in the near future. All annexes should be signed by
July 1.
Today the Lower House did not vote on a bill for the ratification of
an agreement on free transit across Croatian territory to and from
the port of Ploce and across Bosnian territory in the port of Neum.
The president of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union's
parliamentary bench, Vladimir Seks, said two days ago the said
agreement would be ratified only after the special relations
agreement was ratified in Sarajevo.
