PRISTINA, Feb 12 (Hina) - The Kosovo Albanian and Yugoslav
delegations at the peace talks in Rambouillet, France, have 10 days
left to reach a peace agreement, the Pristina "Koha Ditore" daily in
Albanian reported on Friday.
Citing diplomatic sources close to the negotiators, the daily
reported that State Department spokesman James Rubin had secretly
visited Rambouillet yesterday. Rubin's visit, the daily believes,
is part of preparations for the arrival of US Secretary of State
Madeleine Albright.
Without revealing more details, the daily also cited its sources as
saying that several military and state officials would arrive in
Rambouillet in the next couple of days.
Another Pristina daily, "Kosova Sot", reported today that huge
differences still existed between the Serbian and Albanian teams.
The Albanian delegation has accepted the idea of Kosovo having a
high degree of autonomy within Yugoslavia in a three-year period,
but it demands that a referendum on Kosovo's independence be held
after the expiry of that period.
