ZAGREB, Jan 29 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Zlatko Matesa and his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orban announced the signing an agreement on free trade after Friday's official talks in Zagreb. The two Prime Ministers viewed the
future deal as the foundation stones for new and more developed forms of the economic cooperation between Croatia and Hungary and for the integration of the economic fields. It is also very important to stimulate Hungarian and Croatian firms to invest in both countries, Matesa said after the meeting. The Croatian Government is absolutely ready to support the participation of Hungarian companies in the reconstruction of the port of Rijeka, within a comprehensive project for this purpose, Matesa said adding that this largest Croatian seaport could facilitate the transport of Hungarian exported and imported goods. between Croatia and Hungary and for the integration of the economic

order to make positive changes in our relations and to stimulate the
economic cooperation, Hungarian Prime Minister told reporters.
It in the Hungarian interest to promote the strategic cooperation
with the Republic of Croatia, Orban said adding that it was natural
since the most important point of the two countries' internal and
foreign policies were based on the same principles.
According to him, the two parties also agreed to treat each other as
the outstanding partners of the special importance in the future.
Orban said his country would help Croatia in its bid to join very
soon the WTO (World Trade Organisation) and the Euro-Atlantic
associations.
The Hungarian guest was informed about the strategic goals of
Croatia's foreign policy, Croatia's views on the situation in the
region, Croatia's relations with Bosnia-Herzegovina and about
other things important to Hungary as well, Matesa said.
He added that Croatia considered Hungary as a factor of the
stability in the region because of its relations with the European
Union and NATO. Hungary is to become a member-state of the NATO this
April.
Apart from the Matesa-Orban meeting, separate talks were held by
Croatian and Hungarian senior officials in the financial,
economic, privatisation and European integration sectors.
After the talks, Croatian President Franjo Tudjman received the
Hungarian delegation.
