KUCAN, MESIC HOLD TALKS

BIZELJSKO, Nov 22 (Hina) - Croatian President Stipe Mesic and Slovenian counterpart Milan Kucan on Wednesday evening held talks on the upcoming Zagreb Summit and bilateral relations. "I thought it necessary to inform President Kucan with (recent) meetings in Dayton and New York, where I held talks with the Secretary-General and president of the General assembly of the UN," Mesic told reporters after the talks. Kucan said this Friday's Zagreb Summit was represented a big acknowledgement of Croatia, adding Slovenia's interest in the conference was big. He also pointed to the need of settling the issue of succession to the former Yugoslav federation, saying Yugoslavia's new authorities were now positioning succession-related issues differently. Beforehand it will also be necessary to settle open issues with Croatia, said Kucan.(hina) ha
