GROUP FOR PROMOTION OF CROATIA PRESENTS "AUTHORS' NOTEBOOK"

ZAGREB, Nov 8 (Hina) - Croatia should establish an international press centre, issue a weekly in English, have its own web sites and make long-term decisions about promotional activities in order to present itself in the best light to the world and Europe in particular, Drazen Vukov Colic, the head of a working group formed by Croatian President Stipe Mesic, said presenting the authors' notebook "Image and Identity - Croatia" in Zagreb on Wednesday. The notebook is a collection of some 20 texts by domestic and foreign experts, members of the President's working group and their associates, the purpose of which is to stimulate the promotion of Croatia. Croatia is probably the only country in transition which does not have its national programme of modern European promotion, Colic said. "We therefore jointly suggest that Croatia establish what all (countries) already have - a well-organised international press

Croatia is probably the only country in transition which does not have its national programme of modern European promotion, Colic said. "We therefore jointly suggest that Croatia establish what all (countries) already have - a well-organised international press centre, modern web pages, a weekly in English and a strong lobbying agency in Brussels," said Vukov Colic. According to Colic, Croatia should also adopt long-term decisions regarding promotional activities. Today's presentation was attended by the authors of the publication - Irena Zubcevic, Stjepo Martinovic, Fedja Vukic, Stjepan Malovic and Ivan Tanta. The President's working group for stimulating long-term and full promotional activities started unofficial debates back in May this year in order to gather topics and proposals regarding decisions about a new diplomacy and new promotion, national culture and creation, and a consistent European image and identity. The working group includes independent experts on public diplomacy, design and corporation identity, the media and non- government associations. (hina) rml
