CONFERENCE ON INTERNETISATION OF CROATIA HELD IN ZAGREB

ZAGREB, Oct 25 (Hina) - The conference "Internetisation of Croatia: A Challenge for the Present - Solutions for the Future" was held in Zagreb on Wednesday. The event, organised by Ericsson Nikola Tesla company, gathered numerous experts on the Internet. The conference addressed the importance, situation and plans of the informatisation and popularisation of Internet services in Croatia as well as the Croatian government strategy of development "Croatia in the 21st Century". As regards informatisation, Croatia is lagging behind many developed countries and countries in transition, said a member of the President of the Republic's working group on Croatia's informatisation strategy, Zdravko Krakar, adding the Internet was used by less than 10 percent of Croatia's overall population. This is why Croatia must urgently adopt its basic e-documents as the information-communication technology is the driving force of a country's economy. The highest state institutions must have the key role in the process of Croatia's informatisation, Krakar said, adding the project of the strategy of Croatia's development had been initiated by the government in spring.
