SIBENIK, Oct 27 (Hina) - The production of fuels meeting European quality criteria is a condition necessary for oil processing to survive in Croatia, and calls for modernising Croatian oil plants, participants in the "Fuels 2000" conference concluded on Friday. The three-day conference was organised by the Croatian Society for Fuels and Lubricants and held under the auspices of oil company INA. It gathered 210 experts in the oil and car industry, including 36 from abroad. Forty-three reports were submitted. The conference ended with conclusions reflecting the current state of oil processing in Croatia and all that needs to be done to make Croatia come closer to Europe in this respect. The conclusions, among else, say the foundation of the national oil economy's business policy must rely on constant care for fuel quality which at present meets legal norms in Croatia but

To adjust domestic fuel quality to European standards, domestic oil plants need to undergo technological modernisation. The government should encourage such substantial investments by reducing taxes.
