In Thursday's Stance on the Homeland Defence War, the government
says Croatia's early 1990s defence war from the Greater Serbia
aggression is the most honourable part in recent Croatian history.
We are proud of the heroic effort the Croatian citizens invested in
the successful creation and defence of our homeland, the government
says in the document signed ahead of today's session.
"We respect all the victims fallen for the Republic of Croatia. A
huge majority of the Croatian people and citizens gave their
contribution to the Homeland Defence War," it says.
The document stresses the war was validated by the very achievement
of its historical objective, the creation and preservation of
integral and independent Croatia. "The memory of the Homeland
Defence War is preserved with the truth. The Homeland Defence War
was built on the truth and the truth cannot harm it. It can only be
harmed by misuse and cover-ups."
The government says sovereign Croatia, which originated from the
Homeland Defence War, can be preserved and consolidated in only one
way, by building a democratic and law-based state, through economic
progress, and by ensuring conditions for a secure, peaceful, good,
and happy life for all citizens.
