AUSTRIAN AND CROATIAN GOVT HEADS DISCUSS SITUATION IN SERBIA
ZAGREB, Oct 6 (Hina) - Austria and Croatia support the efforts of

After seeing yesterday's images from Belgrade, we appealed for an
avoidance of violence and we hope Milosevic will not resort to it to
stay in power. As soon as the legitimate Yugoslav government is
established, European Union member-countries will advocate a
speedy normalisation of relations with the Federal Republic of
Yugoslavia and the lifting of sanctions, Schuessel told a news
conference after talks with Racan Friday.
Racan assessed "Milosevic has definitely fallen, but the process of
normalisation will take a long time to overcome all elements which
made it possible for Milosevic's regime to bring about this much
harm to the peoples in the region of the former Yugoslavia, as well
as his own people."
"The Croatian stance is clear. We are interested in having our
neighbours as democratic countries and are prepared to support a
democratic Serbia," Racan asserted.
Schuessel is on a one-day official visit to Croatia.
