NEW YORK, Sept 6 (Hina) - Several hundred American Croats attended a dinner held in the honour of Croatian President Stjepan Mesic in New York on Tuesday night. One of most prominent American Croat businessmen in Queens, Ivan Starcic,
welcomed Croatian President and other guests from Croatia. The president of the "American Initiative for Croatia", Dinko Podrug, told Mesic about the life and work of American Croats. Thanking for the warm welcome and good wishes, President Mesic informed them in brief of the political circumstances in the homeland and Croatian authorities' relations with the Diaspora. Present at the dinner were Steve Rukavina, the head of the American Croats' National Federation, Mario Viskovic, a representative of the Croatian World Congress, and Zivko Strika, a leader of the Franciscan humanitarian society.
