MOSTAR, Aug 28 (Hina) - The Chancellor of Mostar University, Marko
Tadic, who tendered his resignation at Monday's session of the
University Governing Council, said he would continue "heading
Mostar University until the new Governing Council appoints the
acting Chancellor, i.e. a new chancellor."
Submitting their resignation, the Mostar University Governing
Council suggested to the Main Council of the Croat Community of
Herzeg-Bosnia that it timely appoint a new governing council, which
would initiate a procedure for the appointment of a new
chancellor.
Today's session of the University Governing Council, which was also
attended by Tadic, suggested that the deans of all Mostar faculties
and the Vice-Chancellor be relieved of duty.
Tadic described the outcome of today's session of the Governing
Council as positive, adding it would "contribute to the
establishment of new relations at the University as well as to the
development of this institution of higher education."
Today's resignations and proposals regarding replacements came one
month after eight out of 12 members of the University Senate
requested Tadic's replacement, criticising him for failing to
sufficiently advocate Croatian interests and for showing
accommodationist views towards the international community.
The request was opposed by international structures in Bosnia-
Herzegovina.
Chancellor Marko Tadic refused accusations stressing he was in
favour of transforming Mostar University according to European
standards.
