MOSTAR, Aug 28 (Hina) - Mostar University Chancellor Marko Tadic on
Monday tendered his resignation at a session of the University's
Governing Council, the Chancellor's office said in a statement
today.
The session also adopted a conclusion proposed by Tadic regarding
the replacement of the existing Governing Council, which is chaired
by Bosnia-Herzegovina Foreign Minister Jadranko Prlic.
The statement, signed by Tadic, reads that the Governing Council
and the Chancellor have proposed to the Main Council of the Croat
Community of Herzeg-Bosnia, a non-government association formed
after the dismantling of the Croat Republic of Herzeg-Bosnia, to
timely appoint a new university governing council and that the new
council initiate proceedings for the appointment a new
chancellor.
The Governing Council and Tadic have also suggested to university
councils to relieve of duty the deans of all faculties in line with
the Mostar University Statute as well as that the University Senate
relieve of duty the Vice-Chancellor.
Today's resignations and proposals regarding replacements came one
month after eight out of 12 members of the University Senate
requested Tadic's replacement, criticising him for failing to
sufficiently advocate Croatian interests and for showing
accommodationist views towards the international community.
The request was opposed by international structures in Bosnia-
Herzegovina.
Chancellor Marko Tadic refused accusations stressing he was in
favour of transforming Mostar University according to European
standards.
