SINJ RECEIVE HELP FROM AIR SINJ, Aug 28 (Hina) - Firefighters, who have been putting out a wildfire west of the southern Croatian town of Sinj for the past three days, received help shortly after 17.00 hours Monday when air forces
joined them. A helicopter and a Canadair are putting out the wildfire in inaccessible areas, while firefighters, members of the Croatian Army and employees of the Croatian Forest Management continued to put out the fire in other areas. So far, the fire has consumed over 300 hectares of pine and oak trees as well as low plant cover. The fire which broke out near the southern Croatian town of Trilj and which has consumed over 15 square kilometres of woods and low plant cover over the past two days has mostly been put under control. Also closed is highway D1 at the Knin-Gracac section due to a thick
smoke, the Croatian Auto Club reported.
No delays were reported at other state roads near fire spots,
however, the Autoclub pointed to poor visibility caused by smoke.
The Croatian television reported that in late afternoon hours heavy
rain fall in the Dubrovnik area.
