FIRES STILL ACTIVE IN SIBENIK COUNTY, SINJ AREA

SIBENIK, Aug 27 (Hina) - Five fires are still active in the area of Sibenik-Knin County. According to Drazen Slavica, head of the county firefighting department, the largest fire is burning on Mt. Dinara. The fire, which broke out a week ago, cannot be extinguished as it broke out on inaccessible ground. The fire which broke out last night in the area of Miljevci spread to the area of the national park Krka, but was contained this morning. Another fire has been burning in the area of Plavno for four days. The blaze, which spread from the area of Zadar County, has consumed about 50 hectares of land. Another fire is burning on Mt. Svilaja and firefighting efforts are being hampered by inaccessible ground. A fire has broken out in the area of Laskovica. The blaze erupted on inaccessible ground, which is hampering efforts to put it out. The county firefighting department still has no data on the area affected by fires or what caused the fires. The fire which broke out ten days ago on Mt Promina was put out this morning. Two big fires in the Sinj area (Split hinterland) - in the Sutina- Lucane area and between Potravlje and Zelovi - are still active.
