SEVEN FIRE-FIGHTERS AND ONE CIVILIAN INJURED IN FIRES IN SPLIT AREA

ZAGREB, Aug 24 (Hina) - On Thursday, 22 fires were devastating some parts of a broader area of Split. One boy lost his life in the fire in Zrnovnica, read the first bulletin released by a crisis centre, established o Thursday to co-ordinate attempts in extinguishing fires in southern Croatia. Three volunteer fire-fighters sustained serious injuries as they were poisoned by carbon monoxide while battling the blaze at Lokva-Rogoznica near Split. Another fire-fighter was hurt to his eye, at the fire site of Zrnovnica, the same source reported. Three fire-fighters and one civilian were also injured in Zrnovnica. This blaze in Zrnovnica was contained on Thursday evening. So far it has burnt about 350 hectares of pine forest and low plant cover. In Lokva Rogoznica the fire threatened to spread over an residential area. So far three abandoned houses burnt. The fire near Seget burnt some 800 hectares of
