ZAGREB, July 8 (Hina) - Three fires which broke out in the areas of Trnovica, Konavle and Ljubace in Dubrovnik-Neretva County are still active and a fire has been reported in the Neum area in neighbouring Bosnia-Herzegovina. Fires in
the areas of Sinj, Imotski and Omis in Split-Dalmatia County are active as well, the Croatian Defence Ministry's Alert Department said. The fire in Trnovica in Dubrovnik County is burning along the border and has come to 700 metres from the first houses. The situation at the site of the fire, which has consumed about seven kilometres of area along the border, is serious. The fire in Konavle, near the border with Montenegro on Bjelotina Hill, is still active as well. The blaze has consumed about one square kilometre of oak forest and underbrush. Underbrush and grass are burning in the area of Ljubace. The site of the fire is hard to access and a Croatian army helicopter is assisting

The fire which broke out in the area of Neum is not jeopardising
Croatian territory for the time being. The Neum municipality has
sought assistance from Dubrovnik.
The still active fire in the area of Kukuzovac near Sinj, in Split
County, has consumed one side of Visoka Hill and continues to spread
due to wind. Volunteer fire fighters, Croatian army members, two
canadair planes and one helicopter are trying to stabilise the
situation. The fire has come to about 300 metres from the
settlements of Gugici and Radosici. Fire fighters, assisted by a
canadair, are keeping the fire away from the settlements. About 60
hectares of area have been consumed by fire so far.
The fire near Krizic has consumed about 75 hectares of underbrush.
Still active is a fire which broke out this afternoon near Cista
Velika and consumed about 40 hectares of pine wood and underbrush.
Another fire, which broke out this afternoon in the area of Imotski
and consumed about 250 vine-stocks, has been put out.
Fire fighters have put out a fire which broke out near Pucisca on the
island of Brac this morning.
Fire fighters are trying to contain a fire which broke out this
afternoon in Smolonje near Omis above the Cetine River canyon. The
fire has consumed about 150 hectares of underbrush.
