country, changes in its democratisation, and the building of civil society. "We have also discussed problems which Croatia has been encountering," Granic said, expressing belief that the Government would "be supported by the Council of Europe for its efforts, partnership with the Council of Europe, and the accelerated process of drawing closer to European associations." Asked whether they discussed the completion of Council of Europe's
monitoring in Croatia, Johnston said the Council of Europe had
changed its view on monitoring over the past several years.
The Council of Europe is not talking about the beginning and
completion of monitoring any more, but about dialogue, Johnston
said, adding he believed monitoring would not last very long, but
the talks would continue.
