EXHIBITION OF CENTRAL EUROPEAN WINES OPENS IN KRK

KRK, June 8 (Hina) - The eight Wine Forum, an exhibition of central European wines, was opened in Krk on the northern Adriatic island of Krk on Wednesday. More than 200 wines from central European countries, Spain and Argentina will be evaluated by expert teams at the event, which is organised by the Croatian Tourism Board and the Croatian Society of Wine Experts. The Wine Forum was opened by Zdravko Jelenovic, advisor on culture and education of Croatian President Stipe Mesic. Jelenovic said the wine forum was one of the most important steps Croatia had made toward Europe. "We want a mixture of different languages to be heard this summer in Croatia, we want tables to be full of food and jugs full of wine, we want tourists to be happy and relaxed and return to their countries satisfied, wishing to visit Croatia again," said Jelenovic. Indigenous wines are part of the national identity, which Croatia can offer to Europe and the world, said the Minister of European Integration, Ivan Jakovcic. The second, commercial part of the Wine Forum, during which tourists will be able to taste wines from all Croatian regions as well as the gastronomic offer of the northern Adriatic, will be held in late September.
