ZAGREB, June 16 (Hina) - President of the Croatian National Sabor Zlatko Tomcic on Friday received a Chinese parliamentary delegation, headed by president Li Peng. After the talks, Li Peng told reporters he was satisfied with the
context of talks, adding the talks tackled bilateral relations and international relations of mutual interest. The talks were also about the development of cooperation between the Chinese and Croatian parliaments, said Li Peng. Tomcic expressed gratitude to Li Peng because China recognised Croatia's independence in 1992. He expressed readiness of Croatia's policy to support China as one state with two political systems. Tomcic stressed that during the talks it was concluded that the two countries had good political and economic relations, which needed to be promoted. He added that parliamentary cooperation would open the door for cooperation between ministries and economic institutions of the two countries.

Tomcic stressed that during the talks it was concluded that the two

We concluded that China was a country of great potentials, however,
Croatia's potentials should also be given a credit. He expressed a
wish for the establishment of economic relations between Croatia
and China in trade, the production of medications, tourism, and
maritime.
The president of the Croatian Sabor pointed out Croatia was still
suffering from consequences of the Greater Serbian aggression and
stated main goals of Croatia's policy, namely the solving of
economic problems, joining the European Union and good relations
with all countries in the world.
Li Peng said China aspired to the peace policy and was maintaining
good relations with all former Yugoslav countries.
He informed Tomcic of the organisation of the Chinese national
People's Congress. He expressed a wish for a union with Taiwan.
The Chinese official invited Tomcic to visit China, which Tomcic
accepted and added this could take place in 2001.
