Minister Goranko Fizulic, Fizulic's assistant Roman Nota, HEP
(Power Industry) director Ivo Covic, Croatia's Ambassador to the
United States, Miomir Zuzul, and Aleksandar Heina, advisor on
economy at the Croatian Embassy, who held two rounds of the closed
talks with officials of the US corporation Enron on Thursday.
The Enron officials are led by the company's Vice President Joe
Sutton.
Croatians explained to the U.S. partners their Government's
programme of reforms in the energy supplies market under which the
future Jeretovac gas power plant be one in a series of private power
plants. Owing to new strategic concepts, an agreement signed with
Enron last year should be changed.
"We are close to a solution which suits both parties," Granic said.
The talks should be completed by Friday afternoon. If they progress
according to expectations, a general contract will be initialled.
After that Croatian and American experts should draft a text of the
new contract.
