ZAGREB, April 5 (Hina) - About 1,500 employees of the "Belje" and "PIK Vrbovec" agricultural coops, ended their protest in front of the Government building in Zagreb Wednesday after they were addressed by Vice Premier Slavko Linic who said the Government was not authorised for their problems, adding they should not be collecting their wages in the Government building but in management and supervising committees of their companies. "With the new authorities we signed an agreement on a just and not hungry Croatia", president of the Agriculture and Food Processing Industry Trade Union Josip Pavic said, adding that the Council of the Croatian Federation of Independent Trade Unions would examine the agreement. Linic told protesters that the Government's priority in the upcoming several months is to draft a model of settling the internal debt which amounted to 9 billion kuna. "When the state adopts the model it, it will be easier for us to answer your demands", Linic added. The protesters were not satisfied with Linic's answers, and their main question was how to survive until the realisation of announcements on the Government's Programme of settling debts to economy, and when will sentences be passed for persons responsible for the financial collapse of the two companies. Linic said that authorised institutions were gathering evidence on white collar crimes, in order to bring responsible persons to justice, adding however the process would be long. (hina) it mm
