ZAGREB, April 4 (Hina) - The Croatian World Congress has established a committee for the defence of general Tihomir Blaskic, which will coordinate protest meetings of Australian Croats against the sentence the International Criminal
Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) imposed on Blaskic. According to a statement from the Croatian World Congress on Tuesday, 40 Croat associations, which held a meeting in Melbourne, condemned Blaskic's sentence as unjust, politicised and anti-Croat. The associations agreed to send protest letters to The Hague Tribunal, United Nations as well as the Croatian Government, which they will ask to be more decisive in defending Croatian citizens and, if necessary, reconsider its cooperation with the ICTY. The ICTY sentenced Blaskic to 45 years in prison in early March.(hina) rml
