ZAGREB, Feb 21 (Hina) - Croatia's new science and technology minister on Monday said scientists should have a greater influence in decision-making on science policy and science financing. "Scientists should have a greater influence on
the election of institutes' managers and administrative boards," Minister Hrvoje Kraljevic told today's session of the Committee on Education, Science, and Culture of parliament's Lower House. Kraljevic added the former system was too centralist. He advocated the passing of a new law on scientific research which, unlike the current, centralist one, would regulate a different way of decision-making. Kraljevic has also appealed to the government to earmark 50 percent more funds from the state budget for junior researchers.(hina) ha jn
