"The Chinese government's resolve for state unification remains unchanged," Minister Lilan asserted, reminding China had already successfully integrated Hong Kong and Macao. She conveyed congratulations of the Chinese Congress Standing Committee on Tomcic's appointment as Croatia's new parliament president, as well as the Chinese government's "great satisfaction" with the recent, peaceful transfer of authority in Croatia. Both officials agreed existing trade and cooperation should be developed further. Tomcic said more room must be given to economy, namely science and technology, as Lilan added. Tomcic extended an invitation to China's high-ranking officials, the premier especially, to visit Croatia. Present at today's talks were also Chinese Ambassador to Croatia Li Guobang, and the chairman of the House of Representatives Committee for Education, Science, and Culture, Ante Simonic. (hina) ha
